GREETINGS FROM INDONESIA PAVILIONThis year's COP26 is indeed the special one, taking into account that the Paris Agreement can beimplemented effectively only if the parties can agree on the Article 6’s Rulebook. As you might beaware of that the Paris Agreement calls on developed countries to provide financial support fordeveloping nations to cut their emissions and adapt to climate impacts. The Rulebook providesreporting guidance for countries that provide financial, technological and capacity-buildingsupport to other countries.COP26 was initially supposed to be held at the end of 2020, unfortunately, it had to be postponeddue to the COVID-19 pandemic. This year the UK is the host, together with Italy, attempting to runthe negotiation sessions of COP26 primarily through in-person meeting, from 31 October to 12November 2021. Hence, it will be a gold chance for Indonesian Delegates to play their significantroles in safeguarding the country’s ambitious GHG emissions reduction targets, as reflected in theUpdated National Determined Contributions (NDC) and Long Term Strategy on Low Carbon andClimate Resilience (LTS-LCCR) 2050 documents that has been submitted to the UNFCCC early thisyear. As has been done for the past few years, Indonesia has carried out two tracks of approachessimultaneously, namely series of negotiation tracks, supported by soft-diplomacy and outreachefforts. This year, the Indonesia Pavilion at COP26 will be prepared in the best possible way, thorough back-to-back sessions on both Glasgow and Jakarta, with the theme of Leading ClimateActions Together. The Indonesia Pavilion will deliver facts and evidences that Indonesia has committed to lead byexamples in achieving GHG emissions reduction target of up to 41%, which mainly contributedfrom forestry and other land use sector, with adequate international support by 2030. In order toachieve this ambitious target, the Government of Indonesia acknowledges that strong and robustmultilateral collaborations grounded upon mutual respect, benefits, trust, and recognition areessential. Therefore, the Indonesia Pavilion at COP26 will ultimately also highlight the country’sForestry and Other Land Use (FOLU) Net Sink 2030 and other new initiatives, robust policy andactions, to global community. All in all, welcome, and this Glance of Indonesia Pavilion at COP26 UNFCCC provides usefulinformation and guidance for visiting participants.2Leading Climate Actions TogetherINDONESIA FOLU NET SINK 20301
